Two weeks ago I wrote about a quote that said "what doesn't kill you only makes you stronger". I wrote that blog entry when I haven't begun the book I read in class which is called The Crucible where the story takes place in a puritan town called Salem which is located in Massachusetts where a group of girls goes dancing in the forest and Parris then caught them and Betty, his daughter goes into a coma and is unable to wake up. Rumors start going on about witchcraft in the town and people are being accused by witchcraft during all the story.
The quote "what doesn't kill you only makes you stronger" is evidenced in the people who are accused of witchcraft because they will be hanged and they will loose their lives so therefore they confess about a crime they didn't even commit to avoid being destroyed, or killed, I personally don't believe this ever made them stronger, it just made them weaker because they where lying and making up stories just to protect themselves because those who tell the truth were hanged and lost their lives.
For example the strongest character in the story is John Proctor who didn't let the judge to put his name down on a confession and letting himself hang when nothing else could be done.
Therefore I still support my opinion about that what doesn't kill never makes us stronger because this people were hanged and killed and above all they had to tell lies about witchcraft to save themselves but other people who just tell the truth or say that they did witchcraft where hanged and I believe that if someone assumes their responsibility in the crime they should be sent to jail or maybe a punishment but not being killed.
