“If I go down, it’s never easy. At least my opponent knows they have to go to the end of the earth to take me out no matter what the circumstances. I do try to compete. Even if it’s not your best day, I just try to walk off the court knowing I gave 100%.” - Venus Williams on the Sony Open 2014.
The 2014 Sony Open is a professional tournament for men and women that is played on outdoor hard courts, all these courts bring together the best tennis players in the world that for 14 days centers its attention to the best games celebrated on these courts where many will cry but others would be the most happy!
During the whole weekend I watched tennis, and throughout the week when I got home from school I also watched some games, I just love when there are tournaments and ESPN shows them all, even thought many people believe tennis games are boring and not so exciting as soccer I believe they are awesome and there is also excitement even though everything is much more calm.
After watching some games I spotted my favorite players for the tournament, which were the worse or best and which didn't even deserved to be there, after all I found myself yelling at the TV like a crazy woman like if the players in the court were going to hear me someday.
My favorite players in the tournament were probably Maria Sharapova, Andy Murray and Rafael Nadal. Unfortunately in the game between Sharapova and Selena Williams for the finals Sharapova lost 6-4, 6-3 against the american player which is ranked as #1 in the world. It was sad the elimination but I was proud my idol got until the semifinals! Then there came Andy Murray which was in the quarterfinals and needed to play against Novak Djokovic and he lost 7-5, 6-3 against the Serbian which in my own opinion at one point got unfair because Novak was in the net and got his hand over it and his racquet was in the opposite side and he hit the ball. For me is unfair because he crossed the line and that is not permitted even thought according to him, the #2 in the world, he didn't know that was against the tennis laws, but well, dear Novak, that is against the rules and that point you won was unfair! At last Rafael Nadal is still in the tournament and I know he will probably make it till the finals, or I hope so because I love him and admire him as a player!
For now I will keep watching the games even thought my favorite female was taken out. If you are not used to watch tennis games well, what are you waiting for? They are the best! Be aware, there are much more tournaments coming these year, I will off course, don't miss them!
